Dear All, This is the summary of Terapix activities over the period from march 5 to March 11 2009. The meeting started on March 12, at 14:30, room 281. Please let me know if points are missing, wrong or need clarifications. Amicalement, Yannick {{I. T0005 and T0006: Yannick, Henri}} Yannick got feed back from CFHT and Jean-Charles Cuillandre. All corrupted Deep data have been re-processed with Elixir and new master Flat/Fringe files. Jean-Charles asked Yannick to double check several images that are part of this runID but located on other fields. Yannick is working on it. Henri asked Sanders, the PI of Deep D2-u Cosmos data, permission to use these data and re-process them for CFHTLS T0006 release. Sanders's answer was positive, so Henry will move on. {{II. Processing MegaCam:}} {{III. Processing WIRCam : Patrick, Yuliana, Henry, Yannick}} III.a Patrick Hudelot sent us a long summary that includes the works he did over the month: Barmby : - The images had been crosstalk corrected by Loic with the simple algorithm. It was not suitable for exposures with large objects because the masking was to weak. Patrick had to ask for not crosstalk corrected images and redo the correction himself. The result is the removal of dark vertical stripes above and under the bright galaxies. - The processing has been finished and the release (with the report) has been sent to the PI the second of march. No reply from the PI yet. Flaguey : - The processing has been finished. Despite the horrible choice of the off field, the final images look decent. Patrick included in the release all image files produced so that the PI can decide wether the quality of the skysubstraction matched his criteria. - The processing has been finished and the release (with the report) has been sent to the PI the 16th of february. No reply from the PI yet. Vergani : - The processing is finished. The joined release (MEGACAM+WIRCAM) has been send the 16th of february. - The PI wanted a measurement of the magnitude of two blended objects. Patrick made new catalogs with different deblending parametes and released them. Two other objects are too close and will need a PSF modelling to remove the star flux. This will be done by the PI. Bouvier (07BF99): - creation of the saturation masks to improve the cleaning of the catalogs and the astro-photometry. - new qualitfits are beeing computed. Bouvier_IC348: - New release of old individual (not stacked) skysubstracted images for proper motion analysis (6th of march) Bouvier (08BF98) : - The Qfits have been made and the images have been checked. There are no OFF fields and the nebular regions are covering a good 50% of the detector. It will be difficult to do a good skysubstraction. The 1-pass automatic skysubstraction from the CFHT confirms this problem ... it is very bad. - The first astro-photometry is not great due to the very low quality of the automatic 1-pass skysubstraction. It is enough for a first stack to compute the masks but it will have to be improved for the final calibrations. - The skysubstraction has been made as well as the Qfits on all skysubstracted images. - An image was corrupted in the CFHT distribution. Patrick asked Loic for the correct version. Loic answered me the next day, they fixed the bug in the distribution codes and resent Patrick the corrected image. They are very quick ! Lodieu: - The saturation masks have been created. Two new requests : - Laesker : strange request : He wanted Patrick to stack the sfits images (??). Then he was estonished that we offered skysubstraction in our processing ... The images are large nearby galaxies. Patrick has downloaded the data and done the first Qfits. - Bouvier 08BF98: Large exposures of two nebulae (NGC2264 The cone nubula and NGC1333) III.b Yuliana' WIRCam data processing on M31 (Ibata's data set - IBATA_08BF13): - C.Q.: still working on the background variations issue in the final J- and K-stacks 1) redo sky subtraction (to recover the sky images for visual inspection) 2) redo qualityFITS 3) visual inspection and comparison with external fits images (SkyView) TBD: Need to find better procedure for background level determination in cases of extended objects. Chip-to-chip background offsets in the stacks most likely due to the additional background light from M31. {{IV. YOUPI development: Mathias M., Greg.}} - The image selector has been improved and now reports warnings when a plain text file is uploaded to build an image selection. - The image selector is (once again) being worked on to deal with performance issues when dealing with large image selections. Since we added the file upload feature last week (to build a single selection of images), one can decide to upload a file with 12000+ entries... but the current image selector won't load the resulting image list. In order to fix this issue, a new SVN branch 'high-perf-ims' has been created to enhance the image selector (and be able to commit or break things) without disturbing Greg's work on the sextractor plugin. This is one of the last major issue to fix before it can be used by Yulia. Youpi's (partial) roadmap: - 2009-03-19 (thursday): We will give Yulia (and others) a beta release of Youpi, with the latest plugins and features available, along with all the QualityFITS T005 data already processed (merged from the very old production database). We will show Yulia how to use the bugzilla interface so that she can report bugs to developpers. - 2009-03-23 (monday): We set a feature freeze for Youpi. That means we will concentrate our effort on fixing bugs and possibly improving the user experience. No addition of (big) new features or concepts will be possible after March 23 for this release. When not fixing bugs, we will also concentrate on improving the documen -tation (handbook), which is not synced anymore due to major improvements in code design in the last few months (the hello, world! tutorial is really out-of-date and lots of chapters have to be written from scratch). Yulia will help us in trying to maintain the FAQ (as she encounters problems). During this periode, the youpix server has also to be set up, the Youpi's website and bugzilla interface have to be moved from terabsd.iap.fr to youpix... {{V. Developpement processing: Yuliana, Patrick, Fred}} Patrick activivites: - New script to remove the homogeneous horizontal stripes (H-stripes). It computes a median on H-stripes of ajustable width. The results are very promising on images where the stripes have a constant shift in the background level. - The main sksysubstraction script has been modified to set the number of cubes (instead of images) to use for the sky calculations. Since only microdither is used within a cube, it makes more sense to work on the number of cubes instead of images. Validation tests are in progress. - The script to create the saturation mask has to be parallelized. {{VI. Hardware/system/cluster Fred:}} {{VII. Divers (All):}}
