THE CFHTLS COSMIC SHEAR SURVEY

The CFHTLS Cosmic Shear Survey is the second generation cosmic survey, after the Canadian RCS survey and the French VIRMOS-Descart and VLT-Descart surveys. It will cover 170 square-degrees spread in 3 uncorrelated patches, each being observed in u,g,r,i,z SDSS-filters, with typical exposure times of 1 hour per filter.
The CFHTLS Cosmic Shear Survey is expected to improve by one order of magnitude the accuracy of shear measurement and the precision on cosmological models by about the same order of magnitude as well. The details of the survey and the scientific goals can be found in:
