This glossary lists all terms used in the documentation of this web sites.

Most terms have the same meaning as original SPIP terms, but some have been extended.

The terms are not in alphabetical order but in progressive order.


Element - Data term

Base elements of the web site are Sections, Articles, News, Web sites. These correspond to records in the underlying web site database.


Zone - Display term

Area of a web page of the site. A zone only appear if it contains at least one element.

Examples :
-  Left side menu zone on all pages;
-  "Shortcuts" zone on the home page;
-  "Subsection" zone on a section page, listing all subsections of the current section;
-  "Content" zone on a section page, listing all articles (except "Presentation") of the current section;


Section - Data term

A section can contain other sections (subsections), articles, news or web sites links.

Special cases :
-  A subsection named "News" modify the standard output of its parent section, by creating on its web page a "Latest news" zone. This zone lists the five last articles contained in the subsection "News". This trick makes it possible to have news in other levels than sectors.


Sector - Data term

A section of first level under the root.

Examples :
-  Activities, Participants, ...

Article - Data term

This element stores a long text. It can also be a virtual article linked to a web site. In this case, a click on the article link immediately redirects to this web site.

Special cases :
-  An article named "Presentation" modify the standard output of a section. This article does not appear in the "Content" zone (which thus does thus not appear, if there is no other article in the section). The content of this special article appear in a white zone, under the standard shadowed zone containing the Explanatory text of the section. More details


News - Data term

This element stores a brief text, mainly intended to give flash informations. News are relevant only in sectors, they cannot be created in subsections of sectors. They appear on the home page (the five last ones among all sectors) and on each sector pages (the five last ones among the selected sector only).

Special cases :
-  Although it is not possible to have news elsewhere than in sectors, there is a trick to emulate news in any section. By creating a subsection named "News", the five last articles contained in this subsection will be listed in a "Latest news" zone on the parent section web page. More details


Web sites - Data term

These elements are only links of external web sites of interest for the current section, coming with a brief description.


Area - Security term

There is four areas in the Terapix Web site:
-  Public area
-  Private (password protected) area for secured users; it is possible to have several Private areas, each protected with a different login/password.
-  Intranet area, reserved to Terapix
-  Administration area, reserved to Terapix for redactors of the site.


Level - Security term

There is three levels of security:
-  L2. Access to Public area only
-  L1. Access to Public area and Private (secured) area. The readable elements depend on the login/password.
-  L0. Access to Public, Private, Intranet and Administration area. Reserved to Team member.


User - Security term - L2

By default, the term user designs a web visitor.


Secured user - Security term - L1

A user who is granted to access secured elements protected with a login/password.


Team member - Security term - L0

A user who is member of the redaction team, and who therefore is granted to access Administration area, where he cas create/modify elements. A team member can access (according to his rigths, in read mode or in read/write mode) all data of the Terapix Web site in the Administration area. Therefore, for comfort, he is also granted to access all site areas directly : Public, Private, Intranet (and of course Administration). Thus it is important to understand that only trusted people have to be registered as team members.
