Minutes for the Terameeting of 1st July 2005

Present: Mireille, Chiara, Yannick, Fred, Emmanuel, Anthony, Jean-Christophe.

Notes: Gilles Missonier has left TERAPIX. Chiara Marmo will join TERAPIX for the IE/WIRCAM post which begins on the 1st of September.

Documentation: Yannick proposes that all the documentation should be in LaTeX with possible version control by "subversion". Anthony will make a demonstration of this system on Monday afternoon.

Current state of T0002: (All)
 Jean-Christophe had all the files he needs and they are currently being transferred to CADC. The CADC should announce the availability of the dataset sometime this evening [update during editing: the official announcement concerning the pre-release data since been made on the CFHTLS mailing list.
 T0002rc: the parameters used to produce the catalogs have to be explained.
 explanatory table: explain difference between Deep and Wide parameters

Preparation for T0003: Yannick proposes that all the CFHTLS-QFits out data is removed. However, the PI data will be conserved. The transition from T0002 to T0003 configuration need several operations that must be ordered the right way and done carefully. Yannick ask Fred to write a checklist that will be validated by Fred, Laurent, Yannick prior to start the transition.

 Fred proposes that clix will be replaced by clix2. This implies abandoning the MandrakeClustering distribution from the production cluster; All opteron machines will also have their system equally upgraded. mix2 and mix4 will get their name back (i.e. back to the situation where mix2 is a bi-proc and mix4 a quadri-proc).

 mix5 seems to be unstable: Yannick reports a crash last week. Emmanuel thinks this is a software problem.

New version of QFits and SExtractor: These need to be installed (and tested)

 Emmanuel will correct the error estimates in XWIN_IMAGE and XYIN_IMAGE and also add more reliable measurements of the ellipticities (to be done by the July 7th).

Changing offices: Fred will move into Gilles' bureau on Monday, and Chiara will move into Fred's office.

Other matters Yannick reports that there are some difficulties with organising Mathias' work at TERAPIX.

Hardware (Fred, Emmanuel) State of orders: some discussion about which orders to be made, for example for a new PC for Yannick, and the storage bay (Fred has decided probably not to go for the Fibre channel option as it is too expensive).

 Yannick asks also that a screen is ordered for Chiara.

 PI data: Yannick requests that all requests for PI data are made in the same way, in order to avoid multiple requests arriving at CFHT.

 Mireille will try to process 03AH02 and 03BH07 (PI Tully) data next week prior to leave for vacation. Chiara will try to use this opportunity to learn how to process PI data. Mireille will be her teacher.
