Minutes for the terameeting of 22nd January 2009
Present: Greg, Yannick, Yuliana, Fred, Mathias M., Patrick, Mathias S.(by videoconf), Henry
Yannick's summary document
Yuliana has continued to work on the Hudson test data. Some problems with the background level in the chisquared images and with running Swarp (unexpected memory problems). Yannick suggests Yuliana get the data processed by Patrick and Yannick for Mike that are archived on ftpix. Yuliana should get similar results as Patrick and Yannick.
For the time being the the version of Youpi she is using does not have any more functionality than just the ability to run QF.
Some discussion about possibility of adding a plug-in to Youpi which can be used to reject objects by interactive plotting. Everyone agrees having histograms look the most useful. Not clear what the best technology is to do this. A few possibilities were discussed during the meeting.
Megacam (CFHTLS)
Mathias S. finds that the CFHTLS magnitude errors are grossly underestimated for bright objects. Henry asks if this a problem connected to the gain setting for the images.
What could be the problem here? Henry suggests that Mathias looks at repeated observations in the deep fields.
WIRCAM (Patrick)
Bouvier data; Bouvier interested in the stars in the images , so we will need good photometry and astrometry, which will be difficult with this data.
Flaguet data processing much better now that the saturated objects are removed. CrossID radius decreased. These fields were extremely crowded.
New PI request, Vergani, GRB, big fields, QFITs finished. Around 2000 images. There is also Megacam data to process. Yannick will process the Vergani Megacam data during the next week end in order to fit in the dead line (Feb. 15).
Henry has been processing molecular cloud images run ID 07BC23.
Patrick/Richard has a problem with zeros in images, some sky background level has been removed.
An important action pointed out by Fred: Can CFHT indicate on their observing forms that if users wish their data is processed by Terapix they should contact TERAPIX *before* their observations are taken? This is the avoid the problem of badly-planned observations which are difficult to reduce. This issue has been addressed several times in the past. Yannick will contact Christian Veillet.
Youpi demo (from Mathias and Greg)
Swarp plugin now functional, can select images to compute Swarp. Demo made by Mathias which stacked five images from the Groth strip area. Still need to add support of .head files.
Yuliana has a user account in Youpi now.
Software development (Greg, Patrick)
changes to skysub scripts
New way to produce the weights from the s-images
Greg has made some changes to the Youpi plugin for SExtractor.
Hardware / system (Fred)
KVM firmware flashed and now all machines are connected to the KVM.
mix15 has been returned to Agorus and they will make some diagnostics, could take up to one month. New contact point at Agorus now.
Some of the dimms are missing for mix3. Unfortunately the machine still doesn't work, it could be the power supply. mix3 was around 10Tb of data. There is no space or place to put these disks. So we really have to get this machine working again.
mix3/mix15 are not available currently.
mix7 / fcix3 have ports open to the outside.
forum has been upgraded.
latest version of condor installed on the cluster.
Misc.
Should Yuliana participate with the NGVs processing?
Processing the NGVS data with Youpi would be difficult. We need to discuss this further. Yuliana, Patrick and Yannick will discuss this early next week.
