Notes for the terameeting of Friday September 10th 2004
Spica (Laurent:)
Stetson photometric catalogue added.
WCS script added, now Laurent computes the exact position on the sky based on WCS info. The page for the steering group has been updated.
daemon will be finished soon, which will allow automatic processing of data (based on a list of available images).
bug in qualityFITS fixed, and now we can perhaps launch SPICA on all the images. Integrating SCAMP still has to be done.
still problems with dbterapix locking up when Spica is launched. One simple solution which can be immediately implemented is to increase the depth of the HTM grid.
Scamp (Emmanuel, Yannick)
segfault bug observed in SCAMP actually happens in the ATLAS library, both on 32bit and 64bit machines.
currently cleaning / clipping / interactive rejection being implemented for the photometric solution in SCAMP.
discussion about the processing of 'bad' CCDs, CCDs which have missing astrometric values due to problems in the pre-processing (for instance, in the Dougados data where there is a lot of extinction).
one solution proposed by Emmanuel is not to use CCDs in the computation of the median astrometric solution when there are no sources (or sources less than some number N) in the images. A keyword will be placed the header to indicate this kind of case. This behaviour will be controlled by a new hidden parameter in scamp.
another solution is to have a .ahead file defining the focal plane of the camera which will be used for all cases: this would probably fix a lot of problems.
QualityFITS (Fred:)
PSF mapping for output stacks not finished yet.
also add calculation of effective area (useful for number counts)
some work done on the Panorapix interface
dbterapix (Gerard:)
some work done on the cleaning of dbterapix: this tool should be usable after Gerard has left.
no progress on the panier.
Skywatcher (Jean-Christophe):
Now shows Sloan, Stetson standard catalogues in Skywatcher. Some work done on the zooming.
datatransfer (Jean-Christophe):
some work carried out to add the extra directories on the Opterons
Hardware (Fred). Crashes on mix1/mix2 seem to come just before writing to disk. Fred will try change the kernel on mix2 to see if this solves the problem. Still not clear where this problem comes from. Could be a problem with serial ATA.
Baie FC: A technician will arrive on Monday to investigate with the bay FC doesn't work: it seems to come from the fibre optic connection.
Next Tera-meeting: Friday Sept. 17, 2004 room 281.
