Terameeting of Friday 9th April 2004

Present: Anthony, Emmanuel, Fred, Gerard, Gilles, Henry, Jean-Christophe, Laurent, Yannick

Absent: Mireille

Avo-cat (Gerard)
-  VO functionality being added to SExtractor. Gerard is in touch with Ed.Valentijn for a joint AVO/Astrowise meeting Demo expected next week

QualityFITS (Fred)
-  WCS integration added. This results in a speedup of 20 mins in the time needed to run qualityFITS, when the PSF anisotropy mapping option is selected. This WCS integration still has be added to all modules of qualityfits (for instance the galaxy counts and star selection). This should be finished today.
-  A new release should be delivered to Laurent today and to AstroWise next Tuesday.

-  We will then remove all data on /raid on all nodes, JC will then re-distribute all the data over all the nodes, and then qualityFITS will be run on all the nodes with all 03A and 03B data.

Panorapix (Fred)
-  On the Opteron, panoqt3 can now display an image of 20gb.

Scamp (Emmanuel)
-  Implementation of the photometric solution taking longer than thought. Plots to add as well as XML output files. Comparisons with internal solution of Mario. A release delivered to Laurent expected by Wednesday, April 14th 2004.

Spica (Laurent)
-  Objective now is to add the high-level data quality assessment tools provided by Henry.
-  dbclient2 need machine to add catalogues to the database; and to run quality fits on all the images. Fred will flash the bios of testix next week. If it works, testix will be used.

Skywatcher (JCC)
-  Demo shows the projection of a single CCD on the sky. XML parser also demonstrated (some small bugs persist); once this is ready will be able to project CCDs on the sky for each image.
-  Packaging of skywatcher doesn't quite work yet.

-  For the moment we will continue use the plplot plotting library (still no news on SM).

Header problems (Henry):
-  Header problem identified as coming likely from supplying an external header to SWarp. For some reason Mireille does not have this problem. Still under investigation. Emmanuel will look at this problem once SCAMP release delivered.

Defectix (Anthony)
-  Software now works at full resolution, output masks are also at full resolution. Demonstration will be made next week. Need these masks for the calculation of the galaxy/stellar correlation functions by Laurent's pipeline. Anthony will provide a pre-release version to Laurent.

Data Sophie M. (Gilles)
-  Problems at the SWarping level, although weight maps have been successfully created with qualityFITS running on cfh12k input data.

Cosmos data (Henry)
-  Several tests are on-going with full-resolution galaxy clustering measurements. Some very strange things observed. Emmanuel suggested that these problems might come from the sky background subtraction in SWarp. Some tests will be made with SWarped images created with different sky background subtraction.

Hardware (Emmanuel, Fred)
-  Problem with cables on mix2/raid array. Fred and Laurent will investigate /raid1 for the next week. The raid arrays on mix1 will be merged first (mix2 lower priority). Need to buy cables.
