Teraminutes for the meeting of Friday 9th Janury Present: Everyone + Delphine and Antony
Yannick and Fred found the seeds of the galette!
Delphine: All bon des commandes should be cc'ed to Delphine (charbonn@iap.fr). Delphine will manage the TERAPIX credit lines, including all missions!
Antony: Antony will work on the masking problem (generation of masks, detection of cosmic defects)
Panorapix (Fred) Interface added which opens the MEF files using the library of nicola devillard. 15s to read the headers and add memory pointers to the data. Version ready for next week.
QualityFits: Can qualityfits export ascii table? be added to the output : statistics for all tables in CSV.
Scamp (demo by Emmanuel): Scamp is now almost operational. Astrometric solutions have been sucessfully computed on megacam images, and the resulting plots are very reassuring. Scamp should compute simulatenously astrometric solutions for many input images taken with different filters and even different instruments. Some problems still: output header files for MEGACAM data can not be sucessfully swarped yet! It's not clear if this problem comes from SWarp or scamp. Under investigation! Hopefully these bugs can be fixed in the next few days. Memory usage: all the co-ordinate matrices must be read into memory. This limits the total number of images for which the solution can be computed. With current machines the limit is around 4000images (i.e., a lot).
Spica (Laurent) 1081 images added now in the database. Some images from some runs have not been passed into the database because of a problems with QualityFits. Discussion about broken CCDs: If there are no longer 36 extensions then do we consider the input dataset as coming from a 'new camera?'. Discussion about what happens when there is a half the camera missing (the 'demi-megacam' problem). One question: what defines a 'new instrument'? How many CCDs must be missing?
Spica processing (Laurent) Laurent demonstrates the spica interface; how the images in the database can be selected based on filter/object name. Disucsssion about enabling local ftp for these images.
CFHTLS stacks / calibration (Henry) Preliminary r* stack presented of the D3-groth area (40mins of integration) cosmic quality very good! Cosmetic quality of this data is very good! Henry also made a brief presentation demonstrating the necessity of applying corrections for galactic extinction in wide-field survey data, based on experiences on the VVDS-F10 data.
Database (Gerard+all) Discussion of fields to be added in the catalogues interaction with CADC/CDS.
UCD tables (yannick) UCD/vo table data model correspondance between the two. very little in common with the other schemes. can we find enough
Photometry (Mirelle)
Coma data (Yannick). Jean-Pierre Picat has requested reprocessing of some cfh12k coma data. Unfortunately, the data processing will have to be completely redone, including the flat-fielding. Will proceed as time allows (CFHTLS/Megacam are the priority right now).
Defect detection (Antony, Yannick) Discussion of various algorithms. Most are not fast enough to be used in the TERAPIX pipeline. Fits rebinning software already completed. Some discussion about the best algorithim to use.
Hardware (ultra rapid summary from Emmanuel) 2x2800MP processors arrived for testix. No progress on the Opterons, although node10 is now fully operational in 32bit mode and is being used by Henry to process CFHTLS data.
CFHTLS meeting 15 January (logistics)
30 baudrimont logistique: 30 litres of water Nescafe (for instant coffe!!)
Presentation of terapix / meetings. Henry: presentation of the Groth strip data.
