Tera-minutes of the November 13, 2006 meeting
Present: Chiara, Fred, Laurent, Anthony, Henry, Emmanuel, Mathias (Video)
Absent: Mireille
Problems with clix (Fred)
/home/nis/clix was not accessible during the weekend because there was a problem with the disk; Fred was not able to repair the disk because there were too many users logged in and it was the weekend and people could not be contacted
Important new rule: when such a situation regarding the Terapix computing facilities will happen during the week end (starting on Friday at 19:00) any machines can be rebooted 'without warning'. Fred will send an warning email to all Terapix 10mn before rebooting.
Disks were chosen over the CPU for the upcoming hardware upgrade article_intranet.php?id_article=462
Fred is currently busy with the preparation of the PUMAs for the 15th which should take priority
No hardware order has been made for the minute.
Fred should make sure that users are informed if there are changes to the system. Fred will automatically send an email to TERAOP.
More generally: it is asked Fred (and all others) to write cookbooks that could help anyone to have urgent actions when needed.
SPICA (Laurent)
An urgent test to make right now is to see if Laurent can process a mix of old and new ldacs (produced with two different QFs; if this a problem, then we will need to re-do all the QFs which will take a long time.
ssh -x is preferred for transfers; it is more rapid as it doesn't transfer X11 authentication information
Laurent still transferring T0003 metadata to ftpix.
There are still problems during the copy from Mix4/RAID2 to ftpix. I case mix4 failed again during the on going copy, Fred will first do the migration on mix4 and we will check whether the copy work better.
Will try to start QFITs 1 December 2006
Fred will try to finish the duplication of the system before this date.
Other matters (Anthony, Chiara, Fred)
Can we produce an automatic list of software on mix9/mix2? Can this be made available on a web page?
There followed a long discussion about management of TERAPIX and the best way to advance things
WIRCam (Chiara)
On going: GOODS data (Simard), McHardy and Omont data.
There seems to be a problem with the latest version of SWARP on mix9, which takes a very long time to make a stack with large numbers of images; this problem is not resolved.
It takes around 2days with a stack of 16,000 images.
Need to find a way to speed this up...
mix2 crashes with the background estimation (swarp crashes segfaults), so this machine could not be used for the background estimation.
Photometric calibration of WIRCAM: Chiara will fix a date with Herve and Henry for a meeting to discuss the photometric calibration of WIRCam images.
Megacam (Yannick)
Mireille tests QFITS on 06BAF26 (Soucail) data.
Still confusion in the missing data : Cowie, Capak. Fred will check.
We will ask Mireille whether she could run the new SCAMP on Annie Robin data and check if all bug fixed.
Panorapix (Emmnauel, Fred, Yannick)
SVN panorapix installed.
Anis has sent the GL test version to Anis.
Need new Anis' adress.
Dotproject (All)
W1 willot will start next monday: all u-band from W1 T0003 data will be stacked without seeing constrains.
Other .dotproject tasks updated by Emmanuel
The problem of electric power for the TERAPIX second rack has to be addressed. Need meeting with Christophe Gobet.
Yannick will contact Mario Radovich about QFITS
Next Terameeting:
Lundi 10.00 20th November
