Minutes for the terameeting of November 5, 2007

Present : Chiara, Mireille, Emmanuel, Gregory, Henry, Yannick and (Hudelot for few minutes)

Yannick's summary document

WIRCam (Chiara, Henry):

-  Henry believes he found a stable photometric solution to Bouvier J-band on IC348. He will run Herve's script again in order to provide photometry in the Vega system. Chiara pointed out this is very good news that provides a solution for Bouvier's data but it does not explain why the usual process does not work for these data.

-  Henry suggest whether it would be wise to implement Herve's script into the WIRCam pipeline. Unfortunately, it does not seem easy to implement his solution in Chiara's pipeline because Herve uses IDL.

-  WIRCam training set for Hudelot and Henry: Chiara proposed to use Walawender data (RunID 06BH53) instead of IC4665. The Walawender RunID contains much less images , is spread over two fields only, but contains data in 4 filters. It will then provide a broader sample of data and also much less images to process. The down-time between each processing will then be minimised, so Chiara, Patrick and Henry will not waste too much time in waiting for final results for each training test.

-  WIRDS: Chiara did transfer all missing s.fits images. Sky subtraction running on D3. There is some confusion regarding the WIRDS and D2 data. Chiara asked Jean-Paul why RunID 06BF97 is labeled from CFHT as a WIRDS project, but is not listed in Chris Willot's e-mail. Preliminary stacks done by Chiara look good, but there is likely room for improvement using a two-pass sky subtraction.

Data Base T0005 (Gregory):

-  Nothing new from Gregory since the last Wednesday meeting. Gregory is working on it. He is also waiting for the new Django release with Polygon working with MySQL.

-  Henry will put the VISTA image he got from Mike Irwin on a Terapix disk.

Terapix staff and offices:

-  Patrick Hudelot showed up at the Terapix meeting for few minutes to introduce himself. He will spend the day to set up everything with Nicole Blondin and us in order to get ready asap. Patrick may need help to find a flat, so please let him know, in case you are aware of opportunity available by Dec. 1st.

-  With Patrick Hudelot and Mathias Monnerville arriving at Terapix, it would be wise to better organise the office distribution at Terapix. Several options have been presented:

-  Henry moves to Chiara's office, leaving office 211 for 2 persons.

-  Fred moves to Gregory/Anthony office, which is smaller, and leaves his large office for 2 persons.

-  Henry keep his office, but host another person.

-  Fred keep his office but host another person. If so, the office has to be re-organised to leave space.

It is fair to acknowledge Gregory and Anthony have a very small office. If we can, it would be better to have one person in office 204 and two in office 211 and 212. Office 213 is ok for 1 person +one visitor, but 2 persons full time is not convenient. Each option should be discussed further in order to set everything by Dec. 1st.

Misc. (all):

-  The estimated delivery date(s) of all hardware ordered last week is (are) unknown. Need to ask Fred.

-  T0004 catalogs with right mag. errors: JJ sent an email yesterday . He was about to finish his SAC report and then will go back to us for the transfer to CADC. A feed back is expected this afternoon.

-  Henry would like to have a copy of the latest quotation offered to Terapix for a mix10-like node. Need to ask Fred.

-  Mireille pointed out she will move her computing hardware back to Terapix by December. We then must find a place to install/drop what is in her office at LERMA.

NEXT tera-meeting: Tuesday November 13, at 10:00
