Minutes for the terameeting of September 10th 2007
Present: Yannick, Chiara, Henry, Fred, Gregory.
Yannick's summary document
A short meeting; few progress since last Wednesday.
WIRCam: (Chiara)
Chiara is still waiting for Loic' data, no significant progress can be done until Loic provide pre-processed WIRCam images. All PI are queued and pending, then.
PI: Megacam (Fred, Yannick)
Fred started QFITS on 07AF18 images. Will take a while, but Mireille should be able to start grading them tomorrow, when back.
Software: (Chiara, Fred, Gregory)
Regarding the next release of Condor that will manage 2-raid devices, as reported by Olivier Ricou, Chiara believes the typical timescale should be 3 or 4 months. The last release was by July-August, so the next one may be available by Nov.-Dec.
Chiara added the tar file production in her script that runs Condor/QFITS.
Fred will run Condor/QFITS on Megacam images this week. Henry volunteered to help in running Condor/QFITS on a series of Megacam images. His offer is very welcome.
New DB (Gregory):
Gregory will save its scripts in SVN today. Chiara kindly offered to teach Gregory on SVN.
Gregory still implementing FITS Keywords and will wait until Emmanuel provide the full list of FITS "standard keywords" the DB must contain.
Gregory faced on difficulties in running the rollback inside a Python script and MySQL-INODB. He is confident this is a minor issue that he will fix within a couple of days.
Several of us expressed some concerns about the risks the DB cannot handle parralel DB modifications when QFITS will run on 40 CPUs' at the same time. How the BD will handle safely simultaneous changes and DB overwrites by two finishing QFITS in case of two instantaneous requests, for example? Gregory and Fred have no concerns on any issues there since this is a rather standard operation for any DBs. Gregory will check, however.
Next meeting: likely Monday 17th
