Minutes for the terameeting of March 12th 2007

T04 processing

 Laurent announces that he will be on holiday from 19/03/2007. He will be here on Thursday; he has an appointment with Laurent Vigroux at 14:30. The goal is to start SPICA on Tuesday evening. We shall meet with Laurent on Thursday at 10:00 to learn how to operate SPICA for T04.
 Laurent will insert the Skyprobe and seeing values in the database before launching the processing on Tuesday evening.
 The "D" rating will now designate only images that have QSO>3.
 The decision to send step 1 to CADC will be made next Wednesday before or during the videoconference.

MEGACAM P.I.

 Emmanuel will start working again on PSF-fitting at the end of the week.
 Emmanuel will retrieve the LDAC catalogues of M.Pierre's data to investigate about the photometry problem; Henry mentions that the magnitude offset in field C may largely exceed the 0.05 magnitude claimed by Mireille.
 Fred will start the QualityFITS processing of D.Rouan's data before the end of the week.

Hardware/system

 Fred has sent to Chiara some recipes to personalize her ANSI sequences when using Bash.
 The SMART warnings recently received on teraop@iap.fr are not critical and part of the usual disk aging process according to Fred.
 Although the SCSI disk on terapix.iap.fr does not seem to create trouble anymore, Fred suggests to install preventively the new SATA "Raptor" disk ASAP, to be prepared for a possible crash.

Software development

 Gregory summarized his findings on producing automated quality controls from MEGACAM images. He will run PSFEx on two image subsamples of several hundred images each: one made of randomly chosen images, and one made of images homogeneously spread between the 4 quality grades (A,B,C,D).
 QualityFITs is currently reading its SExtractor statistics from the LDAC catalogs. For more consistency with other software it is suggested that Fred uses the new sex.xml file instead.
 The deadline for making the QualityFITS upgrades, re-packaging, (proto-)documentation, release an opening of a dedicated forum is set to April 20th. It is strongly suggested to have a paper written by the team about QualityFITS.
 Yannick suggests to set up a special "hands-on" teleconference to provide all the necessary introduction about QualityFITS to Jean-Charles & co.

Web/reports

 Fred has written a brand new backup documentation on the intranet; but some of the previous information left by Fred is outdated. He will update it in the coming days.
 Chiara will convert the current listing of books on the intranet into a table for easier browsing.

WIRCAM

 Henry confims that the artifacts seen on COSMOS data are crosstalk artifacts, not remanence effects.

Management

 Anthony has decided not to take the short term development job in June proposed by Yannick for Panorapix. However he will try to get some information about posting the job offer to possible candidates at EPITA.
