Minutes for the terameeting of July 9th 2007
Present: Yannick, Emmanuel, Chiara, Gregory, Henry, Fred.
Emmanuel's summary document
CFHTLS T04 processing
Henry will write a small text on SPIP that explains what went on for the astrometry D3-85 i. Deadline: Thursday.
The .htaccess should be modified to make the T03 table accessible by anyone. Henry will try to do it.
Fred expects to have the T04 summary table by Tuesday.
Yannick will try to have the combined catalogs officially delivered by CADC for T05. Meanwhile, Henry will explain the pb on the web pages and put a cookbook describing how to combine the available single-channel catalogs.
System/Hardware
The current Condor configuration on the cluster is still temporary. Fred will try to make tests and fix details concerning large file transfers before the end of the week.
New "silent" power supplies for desktop PCs will be ordered by Fred (2 or 3).
Fred is waiting for Delphine to do the money transfer from Besancon to Paris before putting the order of the PNPS machine.
New rails have been received by Fred and will be installed together with the new UPS. Christophe must install a new tri-phase plug.
Yannick mentions that Rene Verriere has warned about works that may occur in the machine room in the near future. Fred should talk to him and get prepared for the event.
It is decided to phase out pix1, 2 3 and 4 as well as mix1. Fred will talk with other IAP computer people to see if they are interested in getting the machines.
Misc
Chiara will show Gregory how to update the book list.
Software development
SExtractor will be made aware of the "SATURATE" FITS keyword (in the GAIN fashion) in order to automatically adapt its saturation level to the one computed in SWarp. Deadline: November?
WIRCAM processing
A "cookbook-oriented", technical version of the WIRCAM documentation has been put by Chiara on the intranet. Comments welcome.
Henry mentions possible problems that may occur in H for the selection of fields to compute the sky background. Chiara replies that compared to WFCAM she is well within the limits concerning the number of exposures, and that there should not be any difficulties, even for deep stacks.
Future COSMOS stacks might be processed at Caltech/Hawaii. Henry does not have (yet) figures for the processing speed using the Thompson pipeline. Given the delays expected from Loic, it is suggested that future COSMOS infrared data are not reduced at TERAPIX. Henry confirms that the current COSMOS data can be removed from the disk once the tests are completed (by the end of the week).
Loic expects to have the new batch of data reduction started at the end of summer.
Preparing feedback procedure forms for PI users is likely to be useless. Emmanuel proposes to have a daemon that would check weekly downloads from PIs, and sends e-mails to teraop when one occurs. It would be the responsability of the person in charge of the processing to make sure that the download was successful and update the database with this information. Deadline: November?
When Loic comes back, Chiara will ask to have Willott and Monin's data sent in priority.
The latest COSMOS stack made by Henry seems still somewhat more noisy than the one computed with Chiara's recipe but seeings are similar. Henry will perform a comparison of the completenesses ASAP.
Next Terameeting: probably Monday July 16 AM (to be confirmed)
